A family run business established back in 1974, Kenneth Cole and Terry Hazell sought the location of Market Street for their workshop, where the start of their Carpentry and Joinery business quickly took shape, growing a trusted name for themselves in the local area.

As a young apprentice, enrolled at St Albans Building College where I (Graham Cole) acquired my City & Guilds qualification, steps to gain more experience were found working for William King of Market Street who were also a well-established building and joinery company. Always keen to follow in the footsteps of my father, I joined forces with the Cole and Hazell business aged 25 years old.

From then on I continued to build on the trusted Cole and Hazell brand alongside both Ken and Terry, developing my own skills and experience across jobs of all sizes, throughout Hertfordshire and inner London.

In the year of the millennium, Ken Cole retired, leaving Terry Hazell and I to continue the daily running of the workshop, but that did not stop him visiting the yard and joining us for a mug of tea at elevenses!
